Jake Ryan, say it isn't so!

I was sad this morning to learn that writer/director John Hughes passed away yesterday.

At the young age of 34, I spent my tween years watching every John Hughes film over a gazillion times. To this day if "Pretty in Pink" is on, I will stop everything to watch. I have all his films practically memorized, as I am sure most of you do.

In fact, as a pledge in Chi-O, during Chapter, we had to stand up and do a silly pledge talent for our pledge class. Guess what mine was?

Drumroll please..........

"Bueller, Bueller..."

"Uh, he's sick. You see my best friends sisters brothers girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with this girl that saw Ferris pass out at thirty one flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious"

"Thank you, Samone."

"Oh, no problem whatsoever."

I didn't have to look that up people, that is all locked tight in my brain and has been for about 25 years. No lie. And what makes it even more special is that I can say it super duper fast, just like the girl in the movie.

I am a fireball of talent I tell ya'.

What is even worse about John Hughes death is that he was only 59. So sad. But this brings on another set of problems in Cocoland.

My dad is 59. So guess who may have to up her Zoloft dosage for a few weeks before I get over the freaky fear that my dad is going to die? I am going to be talking myself down for a few days. Uhhhhh, sucks having control issues!!!!

On another note, did anyone really think Molly Ringwald dressed cute in "Pretty in Pink?" Even as a 6th grader, I was pretty certain she was a terrible dresser and was very disappointed with her prom dress creation.

Frankly, I wanted to look like the bitchy blonde in the blue puffy dress.

Happy Weekend!

TOTALLY agree that her outfits were heineous (spelling). I too love those movies growing up...Weird Science, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueler, etc. Such a fun time!

LOVE that picture of Bram...hang onto that for wedding video someday!

Thanks for the impromptu HH last night. Ryan and I are usually in bed at 10 but stayed up to "drink" with you and Adam until 11...fun times!

Love the picture of Bram! How funny!
Yes, was bummed by the John Hughes news too.
I was a fan of Sixteen Candles much more than Pretty in Pink. I agree - her clothes were tragic and always felt sorry for her b/c she lived in that house and seem so depressed.

My sister, Caroline, would have been wearing and creating clothes just like Pretty in Pink. So her style and different. I would have wanted to be the popular girl. To each, his own!

We did lose a gem.....he had a gift.....but left this world with many treasures!

See, I am so opposite about Molly. While, I am sure it wasn't the greatest creations, they were different and she wasn't afraid to express herself. I loved it. I also love my students who aren't afraid to express themselves through dress even if it is tragic. I hate it when people die too young. Great pic of Bram.

tragic! i hadn't heard that.

great pic- HAHA!

p.s. "pardon my french, but cameron is so tight that if you stuck a lump of coal up his *fist*, in two weeks you'd have a diamond." (that was the version edited for tv lol! also, not the special emphasis on the word diamond.)

OMG, that is soo funny you know that by heart. I was never very good at stuff like that. I didn't even know Hughes passed away, yikes. But don't go worrying about your Dad now silly.

On the lighter side, The Braminator is hysterically cute!

I am so glad that I am not the only one who actually watches those movies over and over and over. My husband can't stand it. Sixteen Candles was my fav. But, I do have to agree with the horrible outfits in pretty in pink. So 80's.
