Iddy had this gorgeous oak hutch in storage and asked if we wanted it. Hubby of course said "NO!" but luckily Iddy doesn't listen to her son in situations like this. I had no idea where it would go, but knew I would eventually think of something.
It didn't take long when I decided to completely revamp it and put it into Tess' room to replace the crib. Brilliant!
I started it in May, and after a few changes of ideas on what I was going to do, the final touches were put on it yesterday. It is complete.
Two coats of orange paint, two coats of pink paint, two coats of polyurethane, several decoupaged fairies, lots of distressing, glass in cabinets replaced, knobs from Anthropologie purchased. The sucker is complete.
And it is DARLING!
This is Tess yesterday watching Mommy wrestle with the knobs I was trying to screw into this ancient piece of furniture, I wasn't going to let those mo fos win!
Can you see the orange coming through? Baby pics of Gran-T and Iddy.
Also, I have ordered some custom large pails to go under the piece for Barbie stuff, play jewelry, and baby paraphernalia. One in orange dots with a turquoise T, one in baby blue with her green monogram and one white with "Stuff" in hot pink. I think it will look really cute.
All of her baby goodies go perfectly in the cabinet. Pictures, baby dolls made for her by Iddy. Madame Alexander dolls. Baby spoons and baby bonnets. The little things you can't bring yourself to put away.
Excuse the mess, I am packing up a buttload of clothes for baby Elaine, but you can see how large this piece is.
So, that is that. Not bad huh?
These are the knobs I ordered from Anthropologie. Seriously, if you are looking for unique knobs, look at Anthropologie, lots of fun things and very reasonable.
For some reason they don't line up. At first my OCD was NOT going to let this happen. But the more I looked at it, it gives the piece even more character. No? Gorgeous pulls.
So, that is that. Not bad huh?
