Let your Soul Glo.....

We are having a teeny tiny problemo here in Cocoland. Just a small one.

As most of you know, my little lady has been in a big girl bed for several months now. This was not of my doing, she kept trying to make a quick escape from her crib. I caught her more than once in some compromising positions dangling off her crib.

Needless to say, it was time to move it on up!

SO, big girl bed it has been since mid August. Which is fine, no biggie.

But now Tess can actually open her bedroom door.

This is not fine, and definitely NOT a "no biggie."

She doesn't always come straight to our bedroom like her big brother (who would still be in his crib at 4 1/2 if we would not of moved him).

Take this morning for instance, she comes to my side of the bed and wakes me by saying, "Off, Mommy." Her little arms raised in the air. This is code for "take my shirt off." I sit up to get her shirt off and notice she it totally lubed up in Eucerin. This IS NOT our first
Eucerin/Aquaphor experience.

As I investigate further, it seems she has greased up her hair, legs and feet. Then moved on to her doll house, a few Curious George books, the dishwasher, and my antique high chair. Awesome.

What has me puzzled is, why in the WORLD does anyone feel the need to get up and wonder the house, causing all sorts of shenanigans, when THIS is where you lay your sweet head AND you get to sleep as. long. as. you. want. to.:

Does it get any cozier?????

I am not looking forward to the day when Baby Hughes figures out how to crawl out of bed, much less open doors... he gets into enough mischief when I am in the same room

Your little mischief maker sure is cute though!

SMiles!

Oh no! Man, I am counting my blessings. Hagen still doesn't know that he can get out of his bed. he is scared to come down the stairs by himself though, so I may be lucky for awhile! Not a good way to wake up this AM huh?! So Sorry!!

Hey! Good job on the walking, lunging and pushing. Courtnay has this thing called a "body bug" that she wears and it tells how many calories she's burned etc. You go on line and put in what you want to lose, what you are eating etc. Anyway, she has lost 15 lbs so far.

Another reason we're leaving Lainey in her crib as long as possible!

My biggest fear; cruising the house with no one the wiser! Eish...

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law switched the doorknob around when this started happening so they could lock it from the outside and the little one couldn't get out unless they let them out. We never did that but it worked for them.

Knob cover. Made by the Safety First line and available at Wal-Mart, Home Depot, etc. Problem solved.
We had this issue with Clara, who wandered the house like an Alzheimer's patient in the wee hours of the night. The knob cover was a safe, effective, cheap solution.

well.... we had that problem...tried the childproof doorknob covers... little sucker just picked them...any brand...she could get them off in no time flat. i kid you not. good luck with all that!

Ohhh I love the switching the knob around idea. Missy Mack only gets out of her bed and comes straight into our room when the sun rises on Saturday and Sunday morning, which isn't great, but it is better than all the time. It's funny, it doesn't occur to her to do it when she awakes in the middle of night. I am so sorry Tessie was an adventurer solo.

Ugh....mine climbed out of the crib at sixteen months. We still have sleep issues. Ironically he never got into anything like that. Your stories do make me laugh though.

Would she scale baby gate? Guess she would if she could climb out the thr crib ... we put one in Chatty's doorway when she first went to a big girl bed. Other option turn door knob inside out so it locks from outside ..

That made me laugh out loud. I just love their sneaky little minds. I super duper dread moving Sam to a big boy bead. It will be a sad day.

I can't believe this. OH MY TESSIE MAYES, I hope you helped your Mama with clean up. :)

My kids would be too scared to wander around in the dark by themselves.
