Happy 2009 mamas and non mamas!!
Last night was super fun, not very eventful but good family fun. Well, if you don't count the dads all getting drunk and playing poker, then it was good clean fun.
You might want to sit down for this but, I just had two glasses of sangria. TWO, and those two glasses were early.
Because of Hubby's involvement in the sin den of poker, we didn't get home until 3:30am. So I was 100% stone cold sober driving the fam home and sooooo very glad this morning.
But my question to you ladies is this, I eat relatively healthy, low carb all the time, but the past two weeks have been a craptastic holiday piglet celebration. Now that it is the new year and the holidays are officially over, do I start eating normal again now? OR do I get until Monday to continue the food festival, when things really and truly get back to normal?
I have a New Years Day get together today and these people can cook. Then, my mother is coming in on Saturday to spend the rest of the weekend with us while Hubby hunts with my daddy and father-in-law. My mom and I don't like to eat salads together on the weekends.
We just don't.
And I need to mention that I haven't gained a pound this holiday season. This isn't to brag or anything. It is just to let y'all know I must be dying of cancer or some crazy disease that is going to kill me, because the way I have been eating...this can't be normal.
So what is the consensus? Continue to throw down?? Or go back to being disciplined?
A salad and turkey burger really sounds good.
Huh?

Start now. The Monday mentality can be fatal. There are 52 Mondays in a year but only 1 Jan 1st.
Aww crap. I was going to say start Monday. I'm a start Monday kind of gal ;-)
But then I read the above comment. You really can't argue with that!
Monday. Life is too short to miss out on the good stuff.
The "just start Monday" is why I am 30 lbs. overweight. I had a bad stomach bug Christmas evening that kept me down and out for 2 days. I joined Weight Watchers online the next day (last Sunday). I splurged a little last night but am back on track today. I say when it counts eat right then when you are doing something special splurge. I am working on the mentality of "I blew it a little so I might as well blow it all day long." Again, 30 lbs overweight. WOW! Maybe 12 years of on again off again dieting has taught me something. Have a great new year's day!
Monday...you haven't gained weight and you know that you and your mom will want to eat Mexican food. Maybe while she is here with the kids you could get in an extra run or workout. Just a thought.
Throw down until Sunday. That gets you ahead of the rest of the country by a day (so you can feel morally superior to the rest of us slobs) and lets you enjoy your mom's visit.
Happy New Year!!
you freak me out! you ALWAYS say what i am thinking! i am like 'oh me too! oh my gosh me too!' while i am reading your blog--seriously! great minds i guess...
that aside: i say eat drink and be merry for a few more days. we only get 1 big holiday season a year. you won't let yourself go too far because you've worked hard to lose and maintain.
i haven't gained either! i don't get it but i ain't gonna question it... happy new year!
I'm sure you know what my vote will be... Continue the craptastic-ness until Monday. Ride it as long as you can, sista!!!
(And I had two and half beers... TWO AND A HALF. And no champagne... You can imagine how bad the hangover was...)
I agree with the Monday crowd. If you still have outings and family in town, wait.
I'm not sure how I've managed this, but I didn't gain anything over the holidays ~ it certainly isn't for lack of trying!
Jo
I'm going to get back on the healthy eating plan tomorrow...no...Monday...no...well,I'm just going to do the best I can!!!
While the start Monday theory can be fatal, like CR said, I'd say go with that. Enjoy yourself with your Mom. Have a great weekend, then hit full force!
Hey...check my blog out on Thursday...I'll be leaving an award for you. By the way, don't worry about the cussin thing. I am FAR from perfect let me tell you!
I'm losing my mind...I don't even know what day it is. It's going to be TUESDAY that I leave something for you...not Thursday. How will I EVER get back into a work routine next week?
I say Monday! :) Happy New Year!
I know I am late on this...but Monday all the way!
