It's my party and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to....

As you can tell by the above pictures. Miss Tess wasn't too impressed with the birthday celebration. At. All.

She may of been a little pissed off with the fact that she just got a measly cupcake instead of a super cute smash cake. But that wasn't the case. I spent way too much time making homemade red velvet and coconut cream cupcakes to do a big cake. Too bad for her.

After we sang, she went down for a long nap. When she woke up, she was in much better spirits and played with all of the kiddos. There are a ton more pics that I will post later.

We went through three bottles of champagne and most of the sandwiches were gone. The shrimp salad that my brother's girlfriend made (she's a caterer) was to freaking die for. I am craving in now. I will post the recipe later. It is a mayonnaise fest and soooo worth every calorie.

It was a lot of fun. Good food, good friends, good drinks, and all of the kids in there pretty dress up clothes for the tea party. Did you check out the most precious of all dresses that Miss Thing wore for her party?

Next year it is going to be a girls only tea party with boas and tiaras. I am already starting to plan.....

Three year old QUOTE OF THE DAY

"You better check yo'self, before you wreck yo'self"

So he does listen to me.........

Cute giveaway alert!!

I have never done this before but..........

Scary Mommy is having a very cute coffee giveaway.

She is a blogging fave of mine. Go check her out.

It's Tea Party time!!

Tess' Tea Party is upon us. Tomorrow morning at 10:30 am. I really did a good job of not letting it get too out of hand.

Bram's first birthday consisted of 75 people, adult beverages, apps, and a petting zoo. Not happening for baby number two. I guess it is true what they say....

Anyhoo
, I am doing the tea party theme and want it to be her "thing" at every birthday. "Tea with Tessie Mayes". How cute? No? Well, I think so.

This is the menu:

Chipotle pimento cheese sandwiches

Egg salad sandwiches

Chicken salad sandwiches

Shrimp salad sandwiches on mini croissants

Fruit kabobs with a dipping sauce

Red velvet cupcakes

Pineapple upside down cupcakes

Coconut cupcakes

Lemonade

Iced tea

Mimosas, of course mommy will for sure need some booze!

coffee

It isn't going to be super tea partyish because she is only one. But I wanted to get the annual theme thing going straight out of the shoot.

Her Iddy made the darling little dress just for the occasion.

I have tied gingham bows on all the skewers for the fruit kabobs. Hot pink, light pink and sea foam green icing is chilling in the fridge. Hmmmm....what else?

I think everything but the cupcakes are done. I outsourced all of the salads so that is a no brainer and highly recommended.

Can anyone think of anything I have forgotten?

Thirty three year old QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Please don't pee on your sister."

Three year old QUOTE OF THE DAY

"I know that answer. But I don't know that answer."

I totally knows how he feels.

Happy Birthday my little lady!!!!

Daughter

Everything she sees
she says she wants.
Everything she wants
I see she gets.

That's my daughter in the water
everything she owns I bought her
Everything she owns.
That's my daughter in the water,
everything she knows I taught her.
Everything she knows.

Everything I say
she takes to heart.
Everything she takes
she takes apart.

That's my daughter in the water
every time she fell I caught her.
Every time she fell.
That's my daughter in the water,
I lost every time I fought her.
I lost every time.

Every time she blinks
she strikes somebody blind.
Everything she thinks
blows her tiny mind.
That's my daughter in the water,
who'd have ever thought her?
Who'd have ever thought?
That's my daughter in the water,
I lost everytime I fought her
Yea, I lost every time.

Lyrics by Loudin Wainwright III

The above song was in the closing credits of "Knocked Up". I cried the first time I heard it. I was pregnant with Tessie Mayes and very hormonal.

I still cry when I hear it. It isn't the hormones anymore. It is the love I feel for my little girl. My gift from heaven. The little sweet baby girl I never knew I had to have. But I did.

God made sure I will be getting a taste of my own medicine. And for that I am very thankful.

Bram made me a mother.

Tessie Mayes made me a better one.

I love you my sweet little lady. You have completed our family.

xxoo,
your beautiful, funny, smart and skinny Mommy
